I mean no body wants to do poorly correct. But even though we want to do better, how many struggle, year after year and instead of growing and moving forward every year like we should, either -

a) we stay stuck in our life - financially, professionally and personally
b) or we go backwards

If we increase our income, it's marginally, nothing much to write about.

So many struggle and stay stuck, giving too much power to external issues of why they are not doing better -

a) Oh it's the economy
b) Oh it's the industry I am in, everyone is suffering
c) Oh , others are just plain lucky, I have always had to struggle
d) Oh, others are more gifted or educated or talented or smarter than me
e) Only if I wish I had more support...........
f) If you are a strong one, you tell yourself - Oh I am a survivor, I always make it at the last minute.....rent money shows up somehow or enough to keep me afloat

The list can keep going on.....right, of why WE are not doing well based on what we believe or things we tell ourselves. Let me tell you this kind of thinking is NOT your friend, IF you are planning to do better in life.

Now if I asked you - How much money would you like to have or would like your business to make?
Some of you may not know the answer, while many may have that figure in their mind. But if I took this further and asked you - Do you BELIEVE you will actually make that numbr ? What will your answer be? Most will end up saying NO. And when you don't believe something, what will your conscious and sub-conscious actions be towards getting to your goals? They won't be in tandem.

It so easy to look at external reasons and attribute them to why you don't have but each time you do that, You are giving your power away. As soon as you give yourself a reason of why something is okay - You give yourself permission to stop looking for answers, options, ideas, solutions. And when you do that, what happens - you stay in the position you are in. You don't advance and evolve.

When you stay in the mentality of - I am a survivor as oppossed to I am a THRIVER, you will be attracting people, circumstances and opportunities that only allow you to make it to the next month. And you guessed it - Survive.

See the correlation between the 2.

So the idea is to improve your relationship with money. I will do another article or blog post on this later. But for now, here's your Assignment -

For those of you willing to break the cycle of plain old' survival, Pay attention-

1) Pay attention to your thoughts and beliefs around Money and Success
2) When you think about these 2, how do you FEEL - do you deserve it or you don't?

This will be your first and most important step, then we will work on changing them.

Why your small business may not be growing?

If you have managed to say good bye to the JOB world and started something of your own, you probably fall in one of the two categories -

An Accidental Entrepreneur - Those who didn't plan on becoming business owners or entrepreneurs but found themselves walking in these shoes anyways. Circumstances often lead to a person starting their business in this case as oppossed to deliberate intent or planning. May be you were laid off, couldn't find a job in time and decided to dabble in business.

Or a Planned Entrepreneur - Pretty self explanatory - You planned on starting your business. You wanted to be self-employed and start your own company or run your own business.

A lot of times, we don't pay attention to this question but we must look at our motivations and the origin - what got us started or what led us to starting our businesses. Especially if becoming self-employed was un-planned or accidental.

Why?

Often it determines the Attitude you will take towards developing and growing your business. And the attitude determines your drive, followed by action and results.

Motivations = Attitude = Drive =Action =Results

If you never planned on becoming a business person but started it anyway, while waiting upon another job or something else, chances are your focus will never be in really growing your company. It will just be to generate enough money, so you can pay your bills and help you tide over until you find something better; let's say a job, if that's your ultimate goal.

And if you look at it, this is so counter productive right.....because on one hand you want more business but because your motivation and focus is not right, you won't have the right drive to grow your business. Your actions, consciously or subconsciously will be incongruent and sometimes may even sabotage your efforts of bringing in money.

I don't think I need to say anything about the results.....right? You can imagine what they will be.

So, if your business is not growing and you find yourself struggling, examine your real motivations.

Your assignment :

Get to the root of - Why you started your business? List 5 good reasons. See what comes up.

All rights reserved. Why? Because you are wearing different hats, taking care of everything and therefore time becomes that much more critical. You are the one person relying on for doing all the running around completing administration tasks- paperwork, organization, work related errands. You are the marketing person - you are trying to get new clients, business and so on. You are first person you're clients come in contact with - set appointments, greet at the door and finally you are the one providing that service or selling your product.

Often as a one man/woman show, it is easy to get side-tracked and have the main focus be only on taking care of these day to day things. And in the process our focus on income producing activities (where it should be) falls to the side. Sometimes we have a huge list of things to do and yes income bringing tasks are on the list but there is an errand you have to run first or something else that day that requires your energy.

If you're looking to increase your business and income, this is 1 simple technique you want to incorporate -

Reorganize your Things to do List - every single day, you have to have 3 income producing activities on the TOP. Meaning you will do these things first before you will do anything else.

So whether it's making that phone call to the client or writing an article or sending that contract out so your client can sign up for your service....you have to pick 3 critical things to do every day that will bring in money.
After then you can get to running that admn. errand etc.

So your assignment -
Write down 3 income producing activities for your business for the next 30 days. And do it diligently. Make this a practice and see the results.

Before You Launch Your Business - Our upcoming book

We're inching closer to our book release and we wanted YOU to have a first look at our eBook cover and get a first peek on who this book is suitable for.

"Before You Launch Your Business" is an eBook that provides in-depth information on everything one would need to know about becoming an Entrepreneur and being self-employed.

Lot of people jump into starting a business only to realize later on that they weren't really ready for it or they weren't really cut out for the entrepreneurial lifestyle and everything that becoming a business owner requires.

The result: either they quit halfway or the business never succeeds.

Being unprepared and jumping in too soon is a crucial mistake that many make and this eBook will help eliminate that for you. Ever wonder, why when you work hard, nothing ever gets accomplished or you still get left behind or you are not able to reach your goals and so on? If you're into self-analysis, you try to get all the help by reading up on self-help books aand taking workshops, yet, when it comes to results - nada.

It's pretty simple, you can work as hard as you want to, even be a workaholic, be smart, but if your mind is working in the opposite direction, in other words not supportive, your efforts will be met with limited success.
The movie that you keep watching over and over again - which consists of your beliefs, thoughts, people, how you see yourself and your experiences - determines a lot of your future success.

Pay attention to what you think about yourself, others, your colleagues, competitors and so on. If you find something that appears like it's self-sabotaging or unsupportive, try to get rid of it.

One effective way to do this is by making VISION BOARDS about EVERYTHING you are trying to have, or happen or be.

Vision board is like a collage; picture cut outs of everything you are trying to manifest. You not only activate the Law of Attraction - you attract what you pay attention to, but also slowly start wiping off years of re-programming by watching your board , saying the affirmations and feeling how it would feel once your outcome did get accomplished.
I just updated my 2011 mind movie, have a look at it on YouTube and make one for yourself, either via the video or regular board with cut out pics will do to. Have a look - http://www.youtube.com/user/RuchiraAgrawal?feature=mhum

Work on yours and start accomplishing all those things you still want to !

Don’t forget to review 2010, if you want a successful 2011

Whether you’re an Individual who‘s employed or an Entrepreneur running your own business, if you’re looking to become successful, you can’t skip past reviewing your past year. Regardless of how it has been, positive or negative, profitable or not, you can’t move effectively towards the future you want to create by not paying attention and reviewing what happened.

So many of us have this tendency, especially if the year has been a lack-lustre one, to not want to look, instead look ahead to the New Year. Why do we do that? Well the New Year offers hope, another chance; it’s like a do-over offering a brand new clean slate. So there is a sense of optimism attached for things to be different, for them to be closer to where you would like them to be.

But how will you go anywhere if you don’t know where you were? The only way to achieve your goals is –

a) To Know where you were

b) To know where you are

c) To know where you want to go

d) And arming yourself with a plan, support and to stay motivated through the process

Write and Take Stock of the year going by – Often we have so much in our head that it all becomes muddled up. We think we can remember everything or know everything effectively and retain it mentally, but let me ask you – can you really? For the sake of Clarity, you must take a stock of things by writing it down, just so you can read, re-read and re-evaluate as you step into the New Year. So what should you pay attention to; focus on good and the bad both personally as well as professionally–

1) What worked well; even small things count, so really think and come up with what were the highlights and achievements – big or small

2) Also pay attention to what didn’t work – disappointments, goals you couldn’t achieve and so on

3) Learning lessons – look into ‘why’ some things worked and some didn’t

4) What you loved and didn’t love

Take a stock of where you are today and where you want to go – Define your present and future goals –

1) After the previous exercise, you will have a list of what you can check off your list of goals and what you didn’t, so you can carry that over. Write down the carry over’s to the next year

2) Add new goals if you have any – Keep them realistic and achievable. No point adding goals that are not achievable in 1 year – lose 80 lbs in 6 months or take a long vacation to Europe when you don’t have the money

3) Are these goals congruent to your overall vision for yourself?

4) Learning from your lessons (good and bad), make a list of things to take with you and to avoid into the new year

5) Write down how you’re planning to achieve your goals – concrete steps and actions

6) Nothing will happen overnight – A slow, steady, measurable approach works. So break down those into mini measurable goals – I want to lose 40 lbs this year, so I should try to lose between 3-4 lbs a month

7) Having goals and a plan to achieve them is one thing, but we all know actually being successful in achieving them is another – so how will you arm yourself in times when you don’t feel that motivated, what extra knowledge, resources, information do you need

This is an exhaustive exercise that will require time and effort from your end but consider it as time well-spent because it will put you closer to what you want to do and ultimately where you want to go.

Women Entrepreneurs and their Money Statement

Money and finance has long been a domain for men; after all they were the main bread winners in most every family. And that meant, they were responsible for earning and even growing money by the way of investments and such. Women didn’t really handle that side of things in the home; working or not, they were more into taking care of the family and other household duties. Home budgeting was the closest thing when it came to handling finances for most. However over the years times have been changing, there are more women out in the workforce and more women entrepreneurs and self-employed today than ever before.

While the numbers have been steadily building up, one area where women still seem to struggle is in the area of finance. Now as entrepreneurs who doesn’t know the importance and value of money. After all if you’re not running a Non-profit and in business, creating wealth is the very function of your work and endeavors, isn’t it; yet so many struggle when it comes to it. From earning to handling to increasing and building your wealth, even today we still fall short.

Perhaps our upbringing has something to do it. What we observe when growing up and in our environment with our mothers, grandmothers, aunts, shapes up most of our attitude, thoughts and beliefs around it. I know for me, handling money is a skill that I have learnt and acquired mostly as I became self-employed. Perhaps it’s the way we’re wired even. We all go to school; boys and girls get the same education, yet so many women seem to choose their specializations and careers in more creative, administrative areas or fields that require nurturing and caring and so on such as Nursing or Teaching. While these are more women-dominated professions, more men opt for professions such as becoming Chartered Accountants, Finance consultant.

Even being an Entrepreneur and a Business woman was not most opted for but that has changed. Statistics seem to suggest more women are choosing to be self-employed and independent for various reasons, one of them being – flexibility to juggle both home and a career. So If you are in business, you can’t allow to take a backseat or choose to stay behind in money, you have to learn to actively be involved at least until your business is at a level where you can afford an expert anyways. In all seriousness, even then these are skills that one should have.

Having coached women on creating wealth, I have to say the very first step in creating wealth and breaking onto the next income level is taking a stock of what I can TABS - Thoughts, Attitude, Beliefs and Statements. I don’t believe any amount of hard work, patience will produce the kind of results you are looking for as entrepreneurs, unless this is addressed and set where it needs to be.

Self-sabotaging TABS, what’s yours?

Sit down with yourself and really spend time identifying your thoughts on Money and Success. You may just be surprised by what you find.

Many times somewhere and somehow we begin to question the deservedness of money – ‘do I really deserve to have it in my life?’

Another is when our thoughts begin to point us in the direction, where you start feeling like Money is not important.

Let’s look at some statements -

I don’t deserve money because –

‘Money is evil and the cause of all problems’

‘I feel guilty that while money will allow me to lead a comfortable life, someone in Africa won’t even have money for 2 meals a day, so I don’t think I should earn more money’

‘I don’t care about money, it’s not important’

‘I am a spiritual person or my business is, how can I earn money’

‘Having more money makes me fearful I will lose my friends and family’

You see the list can go on and they can be holding you back even if it’s not something actively you think about every day. It’s there and ingrained in your sub-conscious which is working au contraire to your efforts.

So dig and search for those hiding TABS that are the reason your current income is capped at the level it is.

Once you have identified the same, it’s time to say goodbye to them as they serve no purpose to you. Most times once you ‘understand’ what that thought is; it’s easy to change it right away. But if it’s deep – seated, you may have to work a little harder.

Regular Affirmations, rephrasing your negative thoughts about money should work, listening to repetitive mind and wealth resource CDs are some suggestions that can be utilized very effectively.

In my experience I have realized that having a productive, positive relationship to earn money is important for it to continue to flow. If you do not consider money important, it won’t flow in your direction because it’s one way of telling the Universe – you don’t really need it. Don’t you?

Financial investing for Women, Intuitively

For most women, regardless of their culture, finance management is typically not their strongest suit. According to Long Island University - Women are less confident in their investing abilities than men. Only 55.7% of women feel confident about their investing abilities versus 64.4% of men.

Yes, even those with education behind them, money and investment is something we are not trained to handle. Traditionally it’s been considered a man’s domain perhaps because of defined gender roles where men were considered the providers in the family and hence managers of money/investing; while women the ones to take care of the home. Until a few years ago, it wasn’t uncommon in many households that the wife did not really know where the husband was really investing.

But life and society is fast changing. Family structures are changing, divorce rates are rising, number of single women and single mothers is increasing and with the onslaught of last 2 recessions and such, more and more women are actually being put in position to bring home the bacon instead.

Also, we live longer, the security that used to come in jobs is fast declining and things are getting more expensive. The bottom line is, not only do we need more money and we need it to last longer, way longer than before.

So if you’re a beginner and find yourself a little lost as to where to begin, consider relying on your friend, a friend that is within you, that truly knows your best and can also look past and beyond things that are not very obvious. And it’s called Intuition. That’s right ladies, Intuition is a sense that is present in all of us and if practiced regularly can come in very handy in helping one navigate through the seemingly complex waters of finance and investing. It is the one thing that can actually provide you with the ‘right’ answer overlooking all the chatter that one may hear about what’s going on in the economy or what is a good place to park your money and such.

So how can you make use of Intuition to make your wise personal money decisions?

There is so much information out there that sometimes it’s easy to get overwhelmed. And as a beginner, that’s the one thing you do not need, as that will deter rather than encourage. So start simple, start small. Look at the different options that are available to you – Mutual funds, Bonds, Equity, Property and such. Obviously the amount of money, your age and your risk capability decides what the best place and strategy is for you. Feel free to ask people you trust if you find it hard to understand things on your own. Read magazines/newspapers just to keep yourself abreast of things. There’s lots of information available out there that is free of charge and valuable.

As you start familiarizing yourself, start paying attention to your ‘sense’. Let it guide you in what direction to go.

Whether you are considering what mutual fund to invest in or what stock to pick, rely on not just on your mental homework but also on your intuitive sense.

Exercise:

Let’s say you are contemplating whether to buy shares of Company A or B. You have done all of your necessary homework and both look like good places to make investment in. Sit down in a quiet place and bring your attention to the first company and ask yourself this question – Is Company A better or B for investment purposes? Sit back and watch what answer comes forth. After 10 minutes or so, ask again? If you have a couple of days on your side, you can ask the same question again. Each time if your sense guides you in the same direction, that is the answer to follow.

Start small and as you become more practiced, you can start relying on it more and take your steps forward more confidently. And will soon develop and invest in an ally who would be on your side all the way !

For all the lonely hearts - 6 steps to surviving the Holidays

Ahh....the holiday season is upon us; although a time for celebration, joy and love for many, it can also be a difficult time for those that are single or alone. This is a time of the year where everywhere you look, there are reminders of Love. You turn on the television; go out to the mall or anywhere else, there are images of picture perfect families or lovers holding hands, making it that much more difficult for ones who can’t be with their families for some reason or don’t have that special someone in their life.

It’s easy to succumb and become a victim of sadness or depression this time of year. So what is one to do to get through those 7 or 8 days without feeling miserable and like it’s the end of the world?

Here are 6 suggestions that if followed are bound to make the holidays a little bit more cheerful and gratifying at the same time -

1. Make a choice – Being alone and single many times is beyond our control but being unhappy and miserable certainly is. So first decide and say to yourself – this year I will choose happiness, even if I am alone.

2. Open your heart and mind – Love comes in different flavors not just in one. Decide to open your heart and mind to however you receive and give love to others this season.

3. Get ready to escape from your reality – Having a conversation with yourself helps. Talk and keep reminding yourself – “I am taking a break from worrying about being single or alone for the next 10 days. I will go back to addressing it in January.”

4. Bake or Cook – If you love either of these and are wondering to yourself – why bother, it’s just you. I say Stop and Think again! Bake a batch of cookies for your friends and neighbors, if you know them, they would be happy to see you and if you don’t, it’s a nice gesture for anyone and you’ll make new friends. Think of people, maybe the kids cancer hospital will be happy or a local shelter.

5. Involve yourself in some meaningful charity work – your local foodbank or senior center or some such place. Call them and see what programs they have going that you can get involved in.

6. Do something for yourself – If you love seeing Christmas displays, I say go for it. How about watching theatre musicals or any activity you enjoy. Don’t wait and hold back from enjoy what you love doing for Christmas.

Following these suggestions or steps will certainly lift your spirit and make getting by the holidays a lot easier. Embracing the spirit of Christmas, of Giving and sharing Love, is a truly a meaningful and gratifying way to enjoy the holiday season. Don’t deprive yourself from it by choosing otherwise. Embrace it and look forward in life and to the next year.

"I feel stuck and unhappy in life and I don't have a clue of what to do next"

Does this sound like an all too familiar feeling to you? Where you feel like you’re at some sort of crossroads wondering what’s next. You feel like a robot that’s going through life almost what feels like mechanically. You wake up early in the morning, drop the kids off to school, hurry to your job (a job that is nothing more than a means to pay your bills), come back in the evening, finish up your chores, take care of your responsibilities and before you know it the day’s over and it’s time for bed. You wake up the next morning and you replay the same routine.
You spend days, months even years going through life, thinking that you’re doing the best that you can. And you probably are for others around you but are you really doing the best you can for yourself?

Chances are that if you’re reading this article; it’s because you’re looking for more out of life than what you currently have. You’ve lived so far according to what you’ve been conditioned to think and expect out of life. A lot of “what you should do” or “this is what is expected of you” or “this is what life is, you make the most of what you get, you don’t ask for more”. And soon you’re beginning to realize that this is not enough; this is not working for you anymore.

What you’re missing and longing for is meaning, purpose, a deep sense of fulfillment that would ultimately be a key element in bringing you true happiness and joy.

Happiness comes in different ways for different people. Some of us attach our happiness to outwardly successes – “if I just make more money, I will be happy”; “If I just get that promotion, I will be happy”; If I buy a bigger house or a bigger car that would make me happy”. Doing a good deed, finding love can also bring us joy certainly.

But will these bring us ever-lasting “true” happiness; one that will be consistently flowing and is ever present to stimulate us and fill us for the rest of our lives? Or will the charm be lost sooner than later?

Can we have all the money in the world and have perfect love and still feel unfulfilled within our core?

I think you already know the answer here. Outwardly success is just what it sounds like “outwardly”. It can give you a “temporary” high; one that lasts only a while. And once that’s over, you are back again, to the same place of misery.

The key to creating ongoing happiness lies within us; when we feel worthy, we feel competent and we feel like we’ve contributed and made some difference somehow, we tap into our very own personal source of happiness. And let me tell you, this source is here to stay. Once you’ve opened the flood gates, there’s no stopping.

One way to achieve all of the above is to create and pursue “meaningful work” in your life. As you begin to think in this direction, you might wonder what this may be. Does it mean, you have to do something noble, something big in order for it to be meaningful; not necessarily. You don’t have to be Mother Teresa or some big inventor in order to create this sense of usefulness or meaning in your life. You have to find *your* definition of what “meaningful work” is to you. It is something that moves you; something that stimulates your heart, mind and soul.

It could be a –

A Cause you feel drawn to naturally or perhaps a life experience steers you towards it.

A Passion you didn’t pursue because life got in the way.

Or it could even mean -

Kicking your mundane job and pursuing your “Perfect” work; one that brings not only money but also brings intrinsic satisfaction.

An open mind and a learning attitude go a long way in helping you broaden your horizons and grow as an individual. And the more you learn, the more you create a life that is enriching and fulfilling at the same time.

So take the time to find and pursue “what’s meaningful to you”; because once you do, that is the beginning of a love affair with life in itself. One that will last a lifetime and it is then that you can go from simply existing to actually living a fulfilling life.

Copyright Ruchira A.| All rights reserved in all media
